Deep-Fried Pickle? Yes please.
It’s not easy to make a deep-fried pickle on a stick, but Jeff is up to the challenge. By following his advice, you’re on your way to Pickle Town.
Fried pickles are usually of the sliced or speared variety, and are more common in the deep American south, where they tend to pickle a lot of things – eggs, pig’s feet, sausages…just about any foodstuff you can imagine. This is also the region that gave us Koolickles. God Bless America.
According to Wikipedia, fried dill pickles were popularized by Bernell “Fatman” Austin in 1963 at the Duchess Drive In, located in Atkins, Arkansas. From there, they’ve grown to become a bar food staple at many a chain restaurant. Jeff’s variety was inspired by a concoction he ran across in Texas.
